Throwback Thursday: Jennifer L. Armentrout + GIVEAWAY

If you have read at least a few of my reviews, more than likely you have picked up on the fact that I adore author Jennifer L. Armentrout. Jen is my favorite author of all-time and she has written some of my favorite series. Jen is extremely nice, funny and down-to-earth. I have been cramped in a car five times for countless hours so I could have the opportunity to met Jen again and again.

Jennifer's birthday is today, June 11th, and I thought it would be interesting to tell some of the my funny stories from the last three years. This coming Christmas will be the third anniversary of starting my first Jennifer L. Armentrout book, Obsidian, and this fall will mark two years since I first met Jen.

1. Are You Jennifer L. Armentrout?
I can't give myself all the credit for meeting Jen five times, my family members are the ones who get me to each event. My dad typically attends every book event, but the only book event he missed was the first time I met Jennifer at Celebrate the Book in October of 2013. When we went to see Jennifer the second time at YA Fest in April of 2014, with my dad in tow, the fire alarms kept going off. They eventually had to evacuate everyone and my mom got us to go out the back door where Jen and most of the other authors were going. When we got outside, Jen was talking to a group of women and I did not have the nerve to approach her. However, my dad has no fear in the world and approached her. Well, we should use the term her lightly since he really approached the wrong author and started talking to the woman as if she was Jennifer. The women he was talking to actually turned out to be author Kelly Hashway, who works with Jen at Spencer Hill Press, and she actually ended up giving me an ARC of her latest book at the time. Kelly ended up pointing my dad in the right direction of Jennifer, but it was too late, I was mortified. I was even more embarrassed when dad, a bald man with tattoos, was telling Jen about the time he had to go to Barnes and Noble to get a copy of White Hot Kiss for me. I will save you the gory details, but all you need to know is that my father loves me.

2. You Look Like You Could Use A Drink.
You will notice the reoccurring theme in these stories is my father; he always makes book events memorable. At ApollyCon this past February, the fourth time I met Jennifer, Jen ended up signing four hours longer than she was scheduled to. My mom, aunt and I waited in the line for about two hours and got all my books signed, and of course Jen asked where my dad was, and we eventually came back down and entered the line once more when I won one of Jennifer's ARCs of Fall With Me. The second time around my dad came with us and after finding out how long Jen had been signing, he went to the hotel bar and got her a drink.

I have some other stories I could tell you guys about, but they require embarrassing myself, so I will stick to my "Cool Dad Stories" as my dad would say.

Enter to win a SIGNED copy of Jennifer L. Armentrout's White Hot Kiss, the first book in her Dark Elements series, which is one of my absolute favorites, and some miscellaneous JLA swag I have collected over the years.

  1. This is kindof embarrassing, but I teared up a bit when I met Sandra Cisneros, author of The House on Mango Street! Thanks for the awesome giveaway!

  2. I've only been to one book conference and it was the SKY book festival in March. I was so excited because I knew that one of my favorite authors was gonna be there (Mindee Arnett). When I got there, I went to a couple of other authors and made a fool if myself in front of them first so that I could get the awkwardness out of my system, before I went to Mindee. It didn't work. I made such a fool out of myself, I stuttered and I am pretty sure that I spit at some point! I was shooooo embarrassed! But Mindee is such a sweetheart, and she made me feel so much more comfortable and it was awesome.
Anyway, thanks for the awesome giveaway and thanks for telling me about it on Twitter! You're amazing!

    1. Aww, thank you! I bet you did not make that big of a fool of yourself! When I think I did something stupid, I try to tell myself that somewhere, someone did something worse...
